**The Delivery date (after order) block shows the customer's delivery date on the thank-you page, right after checkout, and on the order status page in their customer account when they're signed in.**

- **The order has a date:** the block shows it, and the time if one was chosen.
- **The order needs a date** (accepted without one, see [Orders without a delivery date](/docs/delivery/orders-without-a-delivery-date)): the customer picks it there. OrderRules checks it live against open dates, cutoffs, blackout dates and capacity, and saves it to the order.
- **Pickup orders, cancelled orders, or products with no delivery rule:** the block shows nothing.

On the **Advanced** plan. It works on every Shopify plan, not only Plus. The order status page needs Shopify's **new customer accounts**; with classic accounts, customers still see the block on the thank-you page.

## Add the block to the thank-you page

1. Shopify admin → **Settings** → **Checkout**.
2. Under **Configurations**, click **Edit** (or **Customize**) on your active checkout.
3. At the top of the editor, open the page menu (it says **Checkout**) and choose **Thank you**.
4. In the left sidebar, under **Main**, click **Add block**.
5. Under **OrderRules – Delivery**, choose **Delivery date (after order)**.
6. The block appears with a sample date and a green **"Connected to OrderRules."** message. That's only the editor preview; customers see their own date.
7. Drag it where you want it. Most stores put it under the confirmation message.
8. Click **Save**.

## Add the block to the order status page

Same steps, but in step 3 choose **Order status** (under Customer accounts). Click **Save** again: each page is saved separately.

**Shortcut:** OrderRules → **Delivery Dates** → **Orders & fulfillment** → **Delivery date block** → **Add to thank-you page** / **Add to order status page** opens the editor on the right page. These buttons appear once you choose "Accept the order" for orders without a date, or turn on customer date changes. You can always add the block with the steps above.

## Let customers change the date (optional)

OrderRules → **Delivery Dates** → **Orders & fulfillment** → **Orders without a delivery date** → turn on **Let customers change the delivery date after ordering**. Shopify asks for permission to update orders the first time.

Customers then see a **Change** button under their date. They pick a new date (and time), click **Save delivery date**, and see "Your delivery date is saved."

When a customer changes the date:

- the old date's place is released and the new date is booked ([capacity](/docs/delivery/capacity-limits));
- the order's delivery details and [delivery tags](/docs/delivery/order-auto-tagging) update;
- a line is added to the order note, for example "Delivery date changed by the customer: 2026-11-13 → 2026-11-18. Item labels still show the date chosen at checkout." The date shown next to each item can't be changed after checkout, so the note tells you and your packing team which date is current.

The **Change** button isn't shown:

- after that date's order cutoff;
- once the order is fulfilled or closed;
- for dates picked per item on the product page (only the order's own date can be changed);
- while OrderRules is switched off.

## Troubleshooting

| What you see | What to check |
|---|---|
| In the editor: **"Connected to OrderRules."** | All good. |
| In the editor: "Can't reach OrderRules…", "…isn't recognized…" or "…didn't accept this store…" | Make sure OrderRules is installed and up to date, then [contact support](/docs/troubleshooting/contact-support). |
| The block shows nothing on a real order | The order is pickup, cancelled, or has no product with a delivery rule; your plan isn't Advanced; or delivery dates are turned off. |
| Nothing on the order status page, but the thank-you page works | The customer isn't signed in. Opening the page from the order email, or reloading the thank-you page, shows Shopify's signed-out view, where the block doesn't appear. Ask them to sign in. Or your store uses classic customer accounts: switch to new customer accounts (Settings → Customer accounts), or rely on the thank-you page. |
| The order status page shows a different "Arrives …" date | That's Shopify's own estimate from your shipping rate's transit time, not the customer's chosen date. See Good to know. |
| The block takes a few seconds to appear on the thank-you page | Normal: it waits until the order is recorded. |
| The customer gets "This delivery date can no longer be changed. Please contact the store." | The cutoff passed, or the order was fulfilled or closed, while they had the page open. |

## Good to know

- **Shopify's "Arrives …" estimate.** If your shipping rate has a transit time (for example "3 to 5 business days"), Shopify shows its own delivery estimate on the order status page. It comes from the rate, not from the customer's chosen date, and apps can't change it. For rates you use with delivery dates, remove the transit time (Settings → Shipping and delivery → edit the rate) so customers only see the date they chose.
- **Item labels keep the checkout date.** After a change, the date shown next to each item is still the one chosen at checkout; the order note says which date is current.
- **Older orders.** On the order status page, the block shows nothing for orders placed more than about a week ago, or before OrderRules was installed.
