**Scheduled in-store pickup lets customers book a pickup date and time slot at any of your Shopify locations — enforced at checkout.** Shopify's native local pickup offers pickup as an *option*, but it can't schedule a date, cap how many pickups a slot holds, or enforce a cutoff. OrderRules adds that scheduling layer on top of native pickup.

## How it works

- **Multiple locations.** Each pickup point maps to a **Shopify Location**, so orders route to the right store.
- **Per-location settings.** Every location has its own hours, lead time, cutoff, horizon, capacity caps, and blackout dates.
- **Auto-tagged.** Orders are tagged by pickup date so you can build daily prep lists from Shopify order search.
- **Native checkout.** Pickup rides **Shopify's native local pickup** at checkout — familiar for customers, nothing bolted on.

Set pickup availability with the same [availability rules](/docs/delivery/availability-rules) engine used for delivery — just choose the **pickup** fulfillment method (or **both**).

## Set it up

1. On the **Advanced** plan, open **Delivery** and enable scheduling.
2. Confirm each pickup point maps to the correct **Shopify Location**.
3. In **Delivery → Availability rules → Add rule**, choose the **pickup** fulfillment method (or **both**) and set lead time, cutoff, weekdays, and horizon.
4. Give each location its own **hours, time slots, per-slot capacity, and blackout dates**.
5. **Test** a pickup order and confirm the date/slot is enforced and the order is tagged by pickup date.

## Pickup vs. delivery

Pickup and delivery share the same engine — the only difference is the **fulfillment method** on the rule. Run pickup-only, delivery-only, or both, and each method carries its own dates, slots, and capacity.
