OrderRules earned Shopify's Built for Shopify status on 14 October 2026. Shopify gives the badge to apps that pass its checks for admin speed, storefront impact, design and integration with the Shopify admin, and it re-checks every app each year. Nothing changes in how you use OrderRules; the badge now shows on our App Store listing.

What Shopify checks for the badge
Built for Shopify has a published list of requirements. The ones that matter most to a store owner:
| Area | What Shopify checks |
|---|---|
| Admin speed | The app's pages in your Shopify admin load and respond quickly, measured on real merchant sessions: Largest Contentful Paint 2.5 s or less, Cumulative Layout Shift 0.1 or less, Interaction to Next Paint 200 ms or less |
| Storefront impact | The app may not lower your storefront's Lighthouse performance score by more than 10 points |
| Integration | It runs inside the Shopify admin, you sign in with your Shopify account (no second login), and its main workflows happen in Shopify |
| Clean uninstall | Storefront features use theme app extensions, so removing the app doesn't leave code in your theme |
| Design | It follows Shopify's design guidelines: familiar layouts, clear errors, no pressure tactics, accessible contrast |
| Proven use | A minimum number of installs from stores on paid plans and a minimum number of reviews |
Shopify reviews Built for Shopify apps every year and checks some criteria continuously. An app that stops meeting them gets 60 days to fix the problem before the badge is removed.
What the badge tells you when you choose an app
The badge is a quality floor: the app has been measured against Shopify's own standards, it won't slow your store beyond a set limit, and it works inside Shopify rather than beside it. In the Shopify App Store you'll see it as a diamond badge on listings, and you can filter search results to show only Built for Shopify apps.
What it doesn't tell you:
- Whether the app does the job. It's not a feature review. For order limits, check that rules are enforced at checkout, including Shop Pay and other express checkouts, and not only shown on the product page. See how Shopify checkout validation works.
- Whether it fits your plan and budget. Compare plans and limits yourself.
- That it's the only good option. Many apps in this category have the badge. In order limits and delivery dates, most of the established apps we compare ourselves against hold it too.
What it means for OrderRules
The checks line up with how OrderRules is built:
- Your rules are checked at checkout. Limits, store hours and delivery-date capacity are enforced by a Shopify checkout validation Function, on every Shopify plan, including Shop Pay and other express checkouts. POS sales and subscription renewals aren't validated; see compatibility and limitations.
- Storefront messages come from a theme app extension. Turning the embed off, or uninstalling, removes them; no theme code to clean up.
- Everything is managed in your Shopify admin. There's no separate account or dashboard to log into.
"Our users run their kitchens, bakeries and drops on the rules they set in OrderRules, so the app itself has to be fast, stay out of the storefront's way and feel like part of Shopify. Built for Shopify is Shopify checking exactly that. We'll keep earning it every year."
