Holiday Calendar
Plan Ahead with the Calendar
The Calendar lets you schedule closures, custom hours, and adjusted capacity for specific dates. Set everything up in advance and OrderRules enforces it automatically when the date arrives.
How to Add a Special Date
- Go to Calendar from the dashboard
- Click Add Special Date
- Choose a single date or a date range
- Select the type:
- Store Closed -- block all orders
- Custom Capacity -- override your daily limit
- Custom Hours -- different open/close times
- Optionally add a customer-facing message
- Click Save
Holiday Closures
Block all orders on days you are not operating.
Date: December 25, 2026
Type: Store Closed
Message: "We're closed for Christmas. Happy holidays! We reopen December 26 at 9 AM."
For multi-day closures, select a date range:
Date Range: December 24 - December 26, 2026
Type: Store Closed
Message: "We're closed for the holidays. Back on December 27!"
Custom Capacity Days
Override your normal daily limit for high-demand or low-demand days.
Date: November 27, 2026 (Black Friday)
Type: Custom Capacity
Daily Limit: 300 (instead of your normal 50)
Message: "Black Friday sale -- accepting extra orders today!"
Custom Hours
Adjust your operating hours for a specific date without changing your weekly schedule.
Date: December 31, 2026
Type: Custom Hours
Hours: 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (instead of normal 6:00 PM close)
Priority Rules
Special dates always override your weekly schedule. If your store is normally open on Mondays but you add a closure for a Monday holiday, the closure wins.
When multiple special dates overlap, the most specific rule takes priority.
Visual Calendar View
The calendar displays a month view with color-coded dates:
- Red -- closed
- Yellow -- custom capacity
- Blue -- custom hours
Click any highlighted date to edit or remove it.
Tips
- Add all your holiday closures at the start of the year so you never forget
- Past special dates are archived automatically and will not clutter your calendar
- Changes take effect immediately -- useful for emergency closures
