Weekly and Monthly Caps

Control Volume Over Longer Periods
In addition to daily limits, OrderRules lets you set weekly and monthly caps. These are useful when your capacity planning spans more than a single day.
Weekly Limits
A weekly limit sets the maximum orders from Monday through Sunday.
How to Set It
- Go to Order Limits
- Enter a number in the Weekly Limit field
- Click Save
Weekly Limit: 300 orders
Week starts: Monday at midnight
Orders 1-300: Accepted
Order 301+: Blocked
Resets: Sunday/Monday midnight
Best for: Businesses with weekly production schedules, weekly delivery windows, or subscription services that batch by week.
Monthly Limits
A monthly limit caps orders from the 1st through the last day of the month.
How to Set It
- Go to Order Limits
- Enter a number in the Monthly Limit field
- Click Save
Monthly Limit: 1200 orders
Month starts: 1st at midnight
Orders 1-1200: Accepted
Order 1201+: Blocked
Resets: 1st of next month at midnight
Best for: Monthly subscription caps, limited production runs, and seasonal business models.
Using Multiple Limits Together
You can combine daily, weekly, and monthly limits. OrderRules enforces all of them simultaneously, and whichever limit is reached first blocks orders.
Example configuration:
Daily: 50 orders
Weekly: 300 orders
Monthly: 1200 orders
Scenario: It is Friday and the weekly count is at 298.
Daily: 42/50 (OK)
Weekly: 298/300 (OK)
Monthly: 892/1200 (OK)
Result: Store is open, but only 2 more orders accepted this week.
Two more orders come in:
Weekly: 300/300 (LIMIT REACHED)
Result: Orders blocked until Monday, even though daily limit is not hit.
Strategy Tips
- Use daily limits to manage day-to-day capacity
- Use weekly limits as a safety net so no single busy week overwhelms you
- Use monthly limits for overall volume control and business planning
- Leave a field blank to disable that limit type -- you do not have to use all three
