Scoping rules
1 min read
Scoping decides which products and markets a rule applies to, so different items can behave differently.
- By product, collection, or tag. Give frozen goods a longer lead time, or restrict a fragile line to certain weekdays.
- By country. Target a market β for example, offer date selection to Japan only.
- By fulfillment method. Make any rule delivery-only, pickup-only, or both.
When more than one rule could match, the most specific wins: product > collection > tag > storewide. So a product-level rule overrides a collection rule, which overrides a storewide default.
Precedence, most specific first
| Level | Example | Beats |
|---|---|---|
| Product | One made-to-order cake gets a 5-day lead time | Collection, tag, storewide |
| Collection | Frozen goods deliver TueβThu only | Tag, storewide |
| Tag | Anything tagged fragile skips Mondays | Storewide |
| Storewide | The default everything else uses | β |
A rule can also target a country and a fulfillment method β delivery-only, pickup-only, or both.
